How to choose and verify a research peptide

What to check before ordering: assay method, batch documentation, storage requirements and intended research use.

Consumables that determine result quality

Diluents and consumables are the least glamorous line on an order and a common source of unexplained variability. Bacteriostatic water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol is the standard reconstitution diluent because the preservative suppresses microbial growth after the septum is pierced, allowing a vial to be drawn from repeatedly over roughly four weeks. Plain sterile water contains no preservative and gives a single-use vial regardless of how much volume remains.

Dilute acetic acid solves the other common reconstitution problem. Hydrophobic sequences that will not dissolve at neutral pH usually go into solution once acidified, because lowering the pH raises the net positive charge on basic residues and disperses aggregates. The acidified stock is then diluted to working volume.

Graduated 1ml syringes matter because most reconstitution protocols assume roughly 0.01ml resolution. Measuring a 0.2ml transfer with a 5ml syringe introduces an error large enough to shift a dose-response curve.

Practical notes for this category

Swab the vial septum with 70% isopropyl before every draw, not only the first. The 70% concentration outperforms higher-strength alcohol because its water content lets it penetrate cell membranes rather than fixing surface proteins on contact.

Store consumables sealed at room temperature away from direct sunlight, check seals and expiry markings before use, and dispose of sharps and chemical waste through your institution's designated stream.

How the catalogue is organised

Compounds are grouped by the biological pathway they are used to study rather than by chemical class, because that is how research protocols are actually built. A team modelling tissue repair needs BPC-157, TB-500 and GHK-Cu in the same place; a team working on incretin signalling needs semaglutide, tirzepatide and retatrutide side by side with their purity figures visible for comparison. The category filters above reflect those working groupings.

GLP-1 and metabolic covers the incretin receptor agonists and analogues used in energy balance and insulin secretion research. Regeneration and repair holds the tissue signalling sequences. Growth factor collects the GH secretagogues and hGH fragments. Cellular and longevity covers mitochondrial, telomere and dermal matrix compounds. Neuroactive holds the CNS and cognition peptides. Gonadotropin covers the endocrine axis reference standards. Stacks are matched batch sets, and lab supplies are the consumables and diluents that every protocol needs alongside the compounds themselves.

Reading a product listing

Every listing shows four things that matter before price: the compound name, the vial size in milligrams or international units, the assayed purity percentage for the current lot, and the batch code. The purity figure is not a specification or a target — it is the result the HPLC run produced for the material you will receive, and it is reproduced on the certificate you can search in the library.

Vial size is stated as the mass of lyophilised peptide in the vial, not as a concentration, because concentration depends entirely on the volume of bacteriostatic water you choose to reconstitute with. A 5mg vial reconstituted with 2ml of diluent gives a 2.5mg/ml stock; the same vial with 5ml gives 1mg/ml. Choose the volume that puts your working concentration in a range your pipettes can measure accurately.

Batch codes follow a compound-month-run format, so BP-2408-D is the fourth production run of BPC-157 assayed in August 2024. Quoting that code in an enquiry lets us pull the exact analytical trace rather than the summary certificate.

Choosing between similar compounds

Several groups in the catalogue contain compounds that look interchangeable and are not. Among the incretins, semaglutide is a single GLP-1 receptor agonist, tirzepatide adds GIP receptor activity, and retatrutide adds glucagon receptor activity on top of both. Choosing between them is choosing how many receptor arms your model needs to isolate — running all three in parallel is the standard comparative design.

In the growth factor group, ipamorelin is a selective ghrelin receptor agonist and CJC-1295 without DAC is a GHRH analogue. They act on different receptors on the same cell population, which is why they appear together in so many protocols; AOD9604 is neither, being an hGH fragment studied for direct adipocyte effects rather than for a secretagogue response.

In the repair group, BPC-157 is associated with angiogenic signalling and TB-500 with actin-driven cell migration. The blend vial exists so that experiments needing both do not have to reconcile two separate batch histories and two reconstitution volumes.

Dispatch, packaging and what arrives

Orders placed before 3pm on a working day leave the London facility the same day on a free tracked next-day service within the UK. International orders go out within forty-eight hours on a tracked courier. Vials are sealed, cushioned and boxed with the batch documentation, and tracking is emailed as soon as the label is generated.

Every compound listed is supplied for in-vitro laboratory research by qualified personnel only. Nothing in this catalogue is a medicine and nothing is intended for human or veterinary use.
