What is Humanin?

Humanin is supplied by Planet Biolabs as a 10mg laboratory research standard, assayed at 99.2% purity by HPLC and mass spectrometry under batch HU-2410-D. Research-grade Humanin, lyophilised and third-party purity tested.

How it works

Humanin is studied in controlled in-vitro and pre-clinical models where its signalling behaviour can be measured against a documented reference batch. Planet Biolabs publishes the identity and purity data for every lot so that Humanin results stay reproducible between experiments.

How to handle and reconstitute

  1. Allow the sealed 10mg vial to reach room temperature before opening the carton to prevent condensation on the lyophilised cake.
  2. Reconstitute by running bacteriostatic water slowly down the inner wall of the vial — never inject the stream directly into the powder.
  3. Swirl gently until fully dissolved. Do not shake: agitation shears peptide bonds and can lower assayed purity.
  4. Label the vial with the reconstitution date and store at 2–8°C, protected from light. Use within 28 days.

Research applications

  • In-vitro characterisation of Humanin
  • Reference standard and comparative assay work
  • Analytical method development (HPLC / MS)
  • Stability and storage validation studies

Background

Research context, documentation and handling

Wider context for this research area, plus the documentation, dispatch and intended-use terms that apply to every vial we ship.

Cellular ageing and matrix research

This category spans two related but distinct research areas. The first is cellular ageing: telomere maintenance, mitochondrial function, and the NAD+-dependent enzymes — sirtuins and PARPs — that link a cell's metabolic state to its DNA repair capacity and gene expression. NAD+ availability declines with age in most tissues studied, which is why compounds that raise or preserve it are heavily investigated.

The second is extracellular matrix biology: the collagen, elastin and metalloproteinase balance that determines the structure of dermal tissue. Copper-binding tripeptides are the classic tool here, studied both for their effect on matrix gene expression and for their role as copper carriers, since copper is a required cofactor for lysyl oxidase, the enzyme that cross-links collagen.

Practical notes for this category

Coenzymes in this group are supplied at much larger masses than the signalling peptides, and reconstitution volumes should be scaled accordingly to keep working concentrations in a measurable range. NAD+ in solution is also light- and pH-sensitive; keep stocks dark and avoid alkaline conditions.

Matrix and dermal assays typically run over days rather than hours, so medium changes and compound replenishment schedules need to be defined in advance and held constant between conditions.

Documentation supplied with every vial

Each vial ships with its batch code printed on the label and a matching certificate of analysis published in the certificate library. The certificate records the assay date, the purity figure returned by high-performance liquid chromatography, and the identity confirmation from mass spectrometry. Quote the batch code in any enquiry and we can retrieve the underlying chromatogram rather than the summary record.

For reproducibility, record the compound, vial size, lot number and certified purity alongside your method. If a later batch behaves differently in the same assay, that record is what makes the comparison possible rather than a matter of recollection.

Dispatch and intended use

Orders confirmed before 3pm on a working day leave the London facility the same day on a free tracked next-day service within the UK; international orders ship within forty-eight hours on a tracked courier. Lyophilised material is stable at ambient temperature for far longer than any tracked service takes, so no cold chain is required in transit — refrigeration matters on arrival and after reconstitution.

This compound is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research by qualified personnel. It is not a medicine, holds no marketing authorisation, and is not intended for human or veterinary consumption. No dosing, administration or clinical guidance is provided.
