What is Ace031?

ACE-031 is a soluble fusion protein combining the activin receptor type IIB extracellular domain with an Fc region, used as a myostatin pathway tool compound.

How it works

It acts as a decoy receptor, binding myostatin and related TGF-beta superfamily ligands before they reach cell-surface ActRIIB and thereby relieving negative regulation of muscle growth.

How to handle and reconstitute

  1. Allow the sealed 1mg vial to reach room temperature before opening the carton to prevent condensation on the lyophilised cake.
  2. Reconstitute by running bacteriostatic water slowly down the inner wall of the vial — never inject the stream directly into the powder.
  3. Swirl gently until fully dissolved. Do not shake: agitation shears peptide bonds and can lower assayed purity.
  4. Label the vial with the reconstitution date and store at 2–8°C, protected from light. Use within 28 days.

Growth hormone secretagogue research

Growth hormone is released in pulses from somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary, under opposing control from GHRH, which stimulates release, and somatostatin, which suppresses it. Ghrelin receptor agonists act through a third, independent pathway. Because the two stimulatory routes converge on the same cell through different receptors, compounds from each class are commonly studied together.
